Nigeria's President Jonathan has been touted as the
Most Corrupt Nigerian President ever since he took over from Late Musa Yar'adua
as Nigeria's leader. While many are of the opinion that the president, a former
deputy governor of Bayelsa state, who rose to become the number one man in the
state, is not as corrupt as he is being painted, several others believe that he
is being 'pushed' by 'forces' within his cabinet.
Sources have recently revealed to Global Village Extra
that the president's spokesperson, Doyin Okupe alongside Femi Fani-Kayode,
Director of Media and Publicity of People's Democratic Party, PDP Presidential
Campaign Organisation, are the forces behind the president's recent
misdemeanours.
Top on the list of issues these cronies of the
president's are influencing him, is that of postponing the election for a
second time.
Impeccable sources confided in our correspondent that
the president's aides are the ones pushing him to do most of the things that he
does.
According to the informant, the president really does
not want to leave power, but he is really a novice in trying to perpetrate
unwanted and lawless acts to ensure victory at all costs.
To this end, his cronies have suggested that
Nigerians' resilience will ensure they are kept shut after the issue nay have
initially created an uproar.
“Jonathan is really scared of postponing the election
again,” the source began.
“But he is being backed by the likes of Okupe and
Fani-Kayode, who have said that the people will only make a noise and calm down
after some time.
“In fact, they are also the ones pushing him to sack
Jega so that they can replace him with a more 'understanding' fellow. The move
has been gathering momentum for a few weeks now but the House of Reps members
are strongly against the move,” he offered.
While also attacking the president's recent corrupt
moves, another individual expressed distaste for the way the president has been
doling out dollars to Nigerians shamelessly.
“The truth of the matter is that Oga is desperately in
need of a re-election. He has been spending the money believed to have come
from the $20bn missing oil money.
“I even learnt that the governor of Lagos state has
asked him to settle the oil marketers with his dollars instead of bribing
electorates.
“Personally, I'm ashamed of all that he is doing. But,
there is nobody who can call him to order because of what they want to benefit
from him.
“My greatest worry is that Okupe and FFK
wouldn't push him to his grave. It is really saddening, because that is the
path he is treading with the trend of things,” the source stated on the
condition of anonymity.
